F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG is seeking a freelance Backend Software Engineer to contribute to backend services for our Roche platforms from anywhere in the EU.

You will work with Java 17+, Spring, Hibernate, and REST services, collaborating with architects, frontend engineers, QAs, and product owners in an agile environment. We value clean code, test coverage, and CI/CD practices, plus the ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Qualifikationen

• At least 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• At least 2 years of full-time experience as a Backend Engineer.
• Proficient in Java 17+ and backend frameworks (Spring, Hibernate).
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL and relational databases.
• Experience with cloud providers, preferably AWS, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent written and spoken English; able to collaborate in an interdisciplinary team.
• EU citizen or valid Austrian work permit.

• Develop clean, stable, and performant backend code for Roche products.
• Collaborate closely with backend colleagues and cross-functional product teams.
• Contribute to code reviews, testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Design future-proof architectures and solid technical designs.
