Lonza in Visp, Switzerland, seeks a Project Manager for Analytical Development in Small Molecules to lead chromatographic method development and validation for API manufacturing. You will manage analytical activities, collaborate with Process Development, Manufacturing, QA, and QC, and guide a laboratory team.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Pharmacy or a related field, with strong chromatography skills, cGMP experience, and a customer-focused mindset.

  • Strong knowledge of analytical methods with in-depth chromatography expertise.
  • Experience in cGMP, API development, project management, and statistics is an advantage.

Project Manager, Analytical Development Small Molecules 80-100% (m/f/d)

The actual location of this job is in Visp , Switzerland. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families, if needed.

We are seeking a highly motivated Chemist to join our Analytical Development Team for Small Molecules within the Advanced Synthesis Platform. In this role, you will lead analytical development activities for customer projects and take responsibility for the development, validation, and implementation of chromatographic analytical methods supporting the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will provide scientific leadership and ensure the delivery of robust analytical solutions throughout the drug development and manufacturing lifecycle.

  • Plan and execute analytical projects, ensuring customer expectations and regulatory requirements are met in close collaboration with Process Development, Manufacturing, QA, QC, and other cross-functional teams.

What we’re looking for:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related field, or a Master’s degree with relevant professional experience
  • Strong knowledge of analytical methods in general, with in-depth expertise in chromatography
  • Experience in cGMP, API development, project management, and statistics is an advantage
  • Reliable, flexible, customer-focused, and quality-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication skills in German and English, combined with an entrepreneurial mindset
