The University of Graz invites applications for the First Stage Researcher (R1) position in the Centre of European Private Law. The role is primarily based in Vienna with partial Graz work, and involves cooperation on third-party funded research projects and teaching activities.

You should hold a law degree, have strong German and English skills, and be enthusiastic about academic work and supervising students. The position is part-time and salary is commensurate with qualifications.

Your Responsibilities

• Cooperation in the institute’s third-party funded and other research projects at the Institute for European Tort Law of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the University of Graz (→ place of work mainly Vienna, partially Graz)
• Conducting of and participation in courses
• Assistance in the application for research projects
• Participation in examinations and support in student supervision
• Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures

Your Profile

• Completed diploma or master’s degree in law with above-average success
• Good knowledge of Austrian Private Law and associated areas of law
• Excellent German language skills (spoken and written)
• Very good English language skills (another foreign language desirable)
• Enjoyment of academic work and working with students
• Didactic competence as well as experience in supporting research and teaching (desirable)
• Communication, organisational and team skills

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 52,865.40 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
