Job summary

Dynatrace is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead high‑impact initiatives in a cloud‑native, Java backend environment. You will guide architectural decisions across teams, set technical direction, and shape AI usage throughout the delivery lifecycle.

You will mentor senior engineers, collaborate with product and architecture, and help raise engineering quality while driving cross‑team productivity in a fast‑paced, international context.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on software engineering experience on large-scale cloud-native systems.
• Strong backend foundation with Java in data-intensive cloud environments.
• Proven track record delivering complex software solutions and driving topics across teams.
• Ability to design workflows around AI and review AI-generated code critically.

Responsibilities

• Play a leading role in design and delivery of significant technical initiatives across Licensing and beyond.
• Tackle complex, ambiguous technical problems and guide teams through them.
• Set technical direction across teams and align technical and business stakeholders.
• Define how AI is used across delivery, including design, testing, and operations.
• Build tooling and guardrails enabling engineers to delegate work to AI with review as the standard.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies to improve systems and practices.
• Raise cross-team productivity by improving delivery, collaboration and best practices.
• Coach and mentor senior engineers and collaborate with managers and architects.
• Drive down technical debt and lift engineering quality.
