The University of Vienna invites applications for a University Assistant postdoctoral position in the 91 Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science (CeMESS). The postdoc will design and apply innovative isolation methods to enrich nitrifying microorganisms, leveraging single-cell techniques and molecular tools, within an internationally leading research environment in Vienna.

The role requires a PhD in a relevant field, experience with nitrifiers, and a track record in cultivation

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field is required.
• Experience in enrichment and isolation of nitrifiers preferred.
• Proven experience with molecular techniques and microscopy.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement novel enrichment and isolation strategies for nitrifying microorganisms.
• Apply high-throughput single-cell techniques to enrich nitrifiers.
• Collaborate with nitrification research group on physiology and biochemistry of enzymes.
