Job summary

IMS Nanofabrication, headquartered in Austria with Vienna operations, seeks a Physics Modeling Development Engineer to advance physics-based models and calibration algorithms for multi-beam mask writer systems.

You will analyze machine and experimental data, refine correction models, and translate insights into robust, production-ready workflows in Python, ensuring validation, deployment and long-term effectiveness. Collaborating across teams, you help shape future semiconductor technology.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computational Science or a comparable discipline, with 2–3 years of experience; PhD acceptable.
  • Very good Python skills for scientific computing, numerical modeling, automation and data analysis.
  • Strong background in physics-based or numerical modeling and translating complex phenomena into quantitative models.
  • Experience developing and validating models, algorithms or simulation software against experimental or real-world data.
  • Understanding of professional software development practices (version control, structured code, tests).
  • Fluent English; strong collaboration across technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze machine and experimental data to understand physical effects impacting system performance (registration, CD).
  • Investigate complex system and customer performance issues via data analysis, debugging and root-cause analysis.
  • Refine and extend physics-based correction models and calibration algorithms; develop new approaches as needed.
  • Implement and automate models, algorithms, and analysis workflows using Python; integrate into tool software.
  • Develop and maintain standardized tuning, calibration and verification workflows with automated data evaluation.
  • Validate model predictions and correction strategies against experimental and machine data; improve performance.
  • Drive new modeling and correction approaches from concept to test, verification, implementation and roll-out.
  • Provide 3rd-level technical support for complex system issues; contribute to root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with Application & Testing, Application Lab, Engineering, Software Development, Product Management and Service.
