Job summary

The University of Vienna seeks a PhD candidate for the project “Carbene stabilized Nanomaterials and composites” in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. The position involves synthesis and functionalization of nanoparticles, MOFs and COFs, and integration into composites for catalytic and electrochemical applications.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or related discipline.
• Strong background in inorganic or materials chemistry.
• Experience in organic and/or nanoparticle synthesis is required.
• Experience with MOF and COF synthesis is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize and functionalize nanoparticles stabilized by N-heterocyclic carbenes or related ligands.
• Synthesize MOFs and COFs and support NP with these materials.
• Develop strategies to control nanoparticle size, composition, and surface chemistry.
• Integrate nanoparticles into films or composite architectures and study catalysis, photonics, or sensing performance.
• Publish results and participate in conferences; mentor activities within the group.
