The University of Vienna seeks a university assistant predoctoral/PhD Candidate for the Quantum Optics and Microscopy team in the Faculty of Physics. The role focuses on label-free super-resolution imaging and advanced microscopy in biosciences, contributing to cutting-edge experiments.

You will join an international group around Professor Thomas Juffmann, pursuing a dissertation with independence and guidance, while engaging in teaching and administrative duties within a thriving research

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree in physics or closely related field.
• Experience in chemistry or related courses relevant to the work with DNA molecules and fluorophores.
• Proven track record in experimental optics and microscopy, including publications.
• Experience with experiment design software (e.g. Zemax, CAD) and data analysis tools (Python).

Aufgaben

• Participate in research, teaching and administration.
• Present your research plan to the faculty and complete a dissertation agreement within 12–18 months.
• Work on your dissertation toward timely completion with guidance.
• Contribute to teaching (lab courses, exercises) per the collective agreement.
• Handle administrative tasks to support the group’s research and operations.
• Stay informed about the state of the art and contribute to outreach via publications and conferences.
