Job summary

WU Vienna University of Economics and Business invites applications for a part-time pre-doctoral researcher at IDEaS in Vienna. The position runs 30 hours per week starting January 2027 and is funded until September 2029. The role focuses on data-driven analysis of energy technologies and climate action.

You will design data pipelines, apply econometric methods, and co-supervise theses while engaging with external stakeholders and contributing to teaching activities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative/analytical field enabling doctoral enrollment.
• Demonstrated ability to build datasets from diverse sources.
• Strong coding skills in Python or R with version control.
• Experience in econometrics or statistics and interest in energy/climate topics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and develop high-quality datasets and data pipelines.
• Publish in leading international peer-reviewed journals.
• Co-supervise bachelor's and/or master's theses.
• Collaborate with industry, government, and academic partners.
• Support organizational tasks and contribute to teaching activities.
