Job summary

WU Vienna University of Economics and Business is seeking a pre-doctoral researcher (30 hours/week) for the IDEaS Institute, starting Jan 1, 2027 and ending Sep 30, 2029. You will develop data-driven insights on capital-intensive energy technologies, build datasets, and collaborate with an international team.

The role emphasizes research output, dissertation work, supervision, and engagement with industry and policy partners within an interdisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative/analytical field qualifying for doctoral studies.
• Experience building datasets from unstructured sources and turning them into structured data.
• Strong coding skills in Python or R with version control.
• Knowledge in econometrics or statistics and interest in energy/climate topics.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to research projects on energy transitions and climate action.
• Build and maintain high-quality datasets and data pipelines.
• Publish results in leading international peer-reviewed journals.
• Co-supervise theses and engage with external stakeholders.
