Zusammenfassung

The Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Graz invites applications for an ambitious researcher in micropaleontology. You will conduct autonomous research on macroecological patterns in foraminifera and analyze ecological measures across geological timescales.

Collaborations with established Paleontology and Stratigraphy groups, project conception, and grant fundraising are expected. Teaching, student supervision, and outreach activities are also part of the role.

Qualifikationen

  • Completed doctorate/PhD in Paleontology or related field.
  • Established expertise in Micropalaeontology and Ecology.
  • Excellent English and good German, written and spoken.
  • Very good IT skills.
  • Experience with programming languages, e.g. R.
  • Enjoy scientific work and mentoring students.
  • Independent and goal-oriented working style.
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and networks.

Aufgaben

  • Autonomous research in micropaleontology with focus on macroecological patterns.
  • Data analysis for reconstructing ecological measures and their variability.
  • Collaborate with Paleontology and Stratigraphy groups.
  • Conceive and implement research projects and seek funding.
  • Teach courses and conduct examinations in Paleontology and Stratigraphy.
  • Supervise BSc and MSc students.
  • Engage in public relations for NAWI Graz Geocenter and Department.
  • Participate in organizational and evaluation tasks.
