Organizational Setting

The Division of Energy Planning and Nuclear Information and Knowledge comprises the Planning and Economic Studies Section, Nuclear Knowledge Management Section, and the Nuclear Information Section. The division is responsible for strengthening capacities in energy and nuclear power planning, managing nuclear knowledge, developing a nuclear workforce, and providing knowledge management and human resource development services to member states. It also procures and provides printed and electronic information in nuclear science and technology.

The Nuclear Knowledge Management Section assists member states by developing methodology and guidance documents in nuclear knowledge management and human resource development; implementing initiatives; facilitating education, training, and information exchange; and helping maintain and develop nuclear knowledge and workforce.

Main Purpose

The Nuclear Knowledge Management Specialist builds on experience with nuclear technology and knowledge management throughout the nuclear technology lifecycle, supporting development and implementation of effective KM methods, including sustainable systems and processes to capture and manage nuclear information and expertise based on member state needs.

Role

The role includes: (1) technical project management, (2) expert team member providing analysis and developing system requirements, and (3) coordination of initiatives, meetings, and communication with stakeholders.

Functions / Key Results Expected
  • Coordinate initiatives with member states to enhance NKM systems.
  • Lead development and updates of NKM methodology and digital information management mechanisms.
  • Develop requirements for knowledge organization systems and platforms.
  • Create nuclear taxonomies, ontologies, and classification systems.
  • Lead in developing guidance documents for lifecycle management of design knowledge using semantic technology.
  • Facilitate adoption of knowledge-centric plant information models.
  • Organize technical meetings to review NKM progress.
  • Assess and share best practices for NKM platform implementation.
  • Strengthen partnerships and knowledge-sharing networks.
  • Develop and deliver training on nuclear knowledge management and HR development.

Qualifications, Experience, and Language Skills

  • Minimum seven years in the nuclear sector with experience in knowledge management projects.
  • Deep nuclear engineering knowledge related to the lifecycle of nuclear facilities.
  • Experience with information systems, learning management, and organizing information resources.
  • Leadership in multicultural, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Excellent English skills; knowledge of other IAEA languages is an asset.
Evaluation Process
