We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer (m/f/d) to provide comprehensive oversight, expert guidance, and hands-on support across our IT environment. The network engineer will protect the organization from financial and reputational risks by ensuring adherence to security industry standards and regulations to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. The Network Engineer will provide hands-on and remote network-level support, design, and implementation functions to Thinkproject, ensuring that customer requirements are met effectively both in terms of technical capability and cost-efficiency. This will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, internal departments, and external suppliers. The role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and delivery of communication networks to provide maximum performance and availability for the organization and its customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in expert guidance, monitoring, design, and support, with a core focus on IT networking. They will be required to work within a specialist support and project delivery team, handling both reactive work caused by problems of varying degrees of criticality, proactive work to enhance Thinkproject's ability to achieve its SLAs, and project work to deliver new solutions to the business and its customers. The Network Engineer will work within the engineering branch under the group-wide networks and security division.

What your day will look like

1. Design, configure, test, and maintain LAN/WAN/Security solutions and related services. This includes Firewall, Wi-Fi, Routing and Switching Technologies.
2. Support all end-to-end network infrastructure across the business, ensuring that all assigned incidents and requests are managed effectively.
3. Identify, diagnose and resolve network incidents and problems.
4. Deliver IT based technical projects as well as Business led projects.
5. Interface professionally with internal employees.
6. BAU Adds/Moves/Changes to the Data Network and Network Security Estate.
7. Day to day management of a suite of common network and security products, E.g. Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA), FortiNet, Cisco, Microsoft Azure network/security solutions, Cloudflare, Email Security Gateway Technologies, AWS network/security solutions.
8. Update and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
9. Ensure the network estate complies with the organization's required accreditation standards and internal policies.
10. Performance, capacity monitoring and event management of network infrastructure components.

What you need to fulfill the role

You Must Be

1. English Speaking.
2. A European Citizen living in Germany or Austria.

You Must Have

1. At least 2 years of relevant network engineer experience.
2. Working knowledge of network routing protocols and features such as HSRP and NAT.
3. Working knowledge of network switching technologies and features, such as POE and SFP’s.
4. Working knowledge of firewall technologies, including site-to-site and remote access VPN, IPS, and APCL/URL filtering.
5. Working knowledge of network cabling options, for example OM4, Cat6.
6. Experience in producing designs and topology diagrams.
7. Experience in submitting changes or method statements to propose works to be carried out across the network.
8. Experience in a network engineer BAU support role.
9. Experience in a network engineer project delivery role.
10. Knowledge of cloud-based environments such as Azure and AWS, including connectivity methods into and within these environments.
11. Knowledge of DNS (public and private).

1. Experience with Fortinet firewall, switch and wireless technologies.
2. Experience with Cisco networking technologies, including Cisco Nexus switching.
3. Experience in managing Telcos and service providers.
4. Experience with Azure and Azure (Entra) AD.
5. Experience with Azure and AWS technologies and services.
6. Experience with managing differing network architectures across multiple on premise and cloud environments.
7. Experience with Active Directory, encryption, access control, web security gateway, email security gateway, web application firewall, DDOS protection, and vulnerability/penetration testing solutions.
