Job Purpose

As part of the Core Technology R&D team in FreyZein, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing new technologies and methodologies as part of research and development of new cellulosic products. You will work as part of the functional team by driving individual input, as well as mentoring others and contributing to delivering the overall groups’ objective. Embedded in a global and cross-functional team, you will contribute to effective problem solving and technology transfer from early stage R&D to the manufacturing facilities to complete the industrialization and commercialization of our products.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct cutting-edge research to develop novel cellulose-based materials
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including chemists, engineers, and designers, to create high-performance textiles
  • Communicate findings, progress, and challenges to the team and stakeholders
  • Maintain detailed scientific records
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and scientific advancements
  • Work closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and external partners to source raw materials and ensure scalability
Education

A Master’s or PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience
  • Strong knowledge of cellulose, characterization techniques, and material behavior
  • Hands-on experience in conducting research and developing materials
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and experimental design
  • Excellent organizational skills for task management
  • Results-oriented with a proactive problem-solving approach
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and intercultural sensitivity skills
  • Proficient in English & German (level B2/3) with clear communication and presentation abilities
