You will support ongoing projects focusing on reliable wireless 5G/6G communication and sensing, with a strong emphasis on antenna design and experimental validation.

The role offers a 6‑month thesis project, starting around 01.10.2026 and a 20-hour/week schedule, accompanied by dedicated supervision from experienced researchers.

Qualifikationen

  • You are pursuing a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with antenna design, validation measurements, or bi-static sensing methods is desired.
  • Basic understanding of antennas, electromagnetics, and wireless communications.
  • Experience with RF measurement equipment, SDR, or antenna simulation tools is advantageous.
  • Programming in Python, MATLAB, or C++ for signal processing is beneficial.
  • Good written and spoken English skills are required.

Aufgaben

  • Design, build, and characterize circularly polarised patch antennas for UAV sensing.
  • Integrate the antenna arrays into an SDR-based testbed and perform experiments.
  • Develop simulation models for bi-static MIMO sensing and validate sensing algorithms.
  • Gain hands-on experience with beamforming, direction-of-arrival estimation, and SDR systems.
  • Collaborate with researchers to advance UAV detection and localisation technologies.
