INNIO in Austria offers a full-time internship for at least 6 months starting at the beginning of 2027. The role targets students in Mechanical Engineering or similar and involves working in a motivated engineering team to improve engine performance through simulation and testing.

The base pay follows the Austrian collective agreement at least 2,755.26 EUR gross per month (x14). You will support development projects, engage in 1D simulations, and collaborate across controls, design, and testing

Qualifications

• Pursuing studies in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong motivation and ability to work independently.
• Enthusiasm and basic knowledge of internal combustion engines.
• Good communication skills in English.

Responsabilités

• Assist in improving engine performance with simulations and tests.
• Support gas engine development projects focusing on performance and efficiency.
• Contribute to 1D simulation activities on combustion and gas exchange.
• Assist in-house testing on single and multi-cylinder engines.
• Support spark plug development and materials analysis.
• Analyze results and report findings.
• Conduct literature research relevant to the project.
• Collaborate with controls, design, mechanical eng, exhaust and test benches.

Your Responsibilities:

• Work in a motivated engineering team to improve the steady-state and transient performance of internal combustion engines through simulation and testing
• Support innovative gas engine development projects focusing on performance improvements (power, efficiency, fuel flexibility, emissions, transient behavior etc.), cost out, and operating strategies
• Support 1D simulation activities focusing on combustion and gas exchange etc.
• Support in-house testing activities on single and multi-cylinder engines with emphasis on mixture preparation, gas exchange, ignition and combustion etc.
• Support spark plug development on single and multi-cylinder engine tests, part inspections and materials analysis
• Analyze investigation results and field data including interpretation, conclusion and reporting
• Conduct literature research for background / supporting data relevant to the project being executed
• Cooperate closely with other functions like controls, design, mechanical engineering, exhaust gas aftertreatment and test benches etc.

Your Profile:

• Student of Mechanical Engineering or similar
• High motivation and ability to work independently
• Enthusiasm and good basic knowledge of internal combustion engines
• Basic skills to work in a global matrix organization
• Good communication skills in English

The internship is a full-time position for at least 6 months starting at the beginning of 2027. The base pay is composed of the amount according to the Austrian collective agreement which is at least EUR 2.755,26 gross per month (x 14).
