United Nations in Vienna is seeking an Associate Legal Officer to support the Senior Legal Advisor and Chief of Office of ODG/OED. The role involves legal research, drafting and revising a wide range of instruments, and providing policy guidance on international law matters.

Ideal candidates hold an advanced degree in public international law or a law degree with qualifying experience, and have strong analytical, writing and data presentation skills.

Qualificações

• Advanced degree required in public international law; or first-level law degree with two years’ qualifying experience.

Responsabilidades

• Provide legal advice and support to UNOV/UNODC senior management and offices in Vienna.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions on international law issues, including UN Charter, resolutions, and host country law.
• Draft, review and revise legal instruments and documents (MOUs, agreements, contracts, internal issuances).
• Offer guidance on procedural matters to intergovernmental bodies and meetings.
• Assist in identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
• Represent ODG/OED Legal at meetings and prepare reports and follow-up documentation.
• Assist in data collection and analysis, presenting findings via graphs, charts, and tables for planning and reporting.
• Support tracking and reporting on ODG/OED/Legal activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
