Job summary

Machine Learning Reply Austria is seeking a Forward Deployed Databricks Engineer to deliver customised, end-to-end data platform and analytics solutions directly with customers. The role focuses on Databricks-based implementations across the full project lifecycle and requires strong data engineering, Python and SQL skills, plus cloud experience.

Qualifications

• Completed studies in computer science, mathematics, physics or engineering.
• Solid experience with Python, SQL and data engineering.
• Experience with Databricks or strong modern data platforms.
• Good understanding of lakehouse architecture and data modelling.
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with CI/CD and software engineering practices.
• Strong communication and customer-delivery skills.

Tasks

• You are responsible for deliveringcustomised end-to-end data platform and analytics solutionson customer projects, with a strong focus onDatabricks-based implementationsacross the full project lifecycle.

• Work closely with customers to understand technical and business challenges, identify solution opportunities and translate requirements into scalable platform architectures.

• Design, build and optimisedata pipelines, lakehouse architectures, data models and engineering workflowson Databricks.

• Implement and deploy robust solutions fordata ingestion, transformation, orchestration, governance and analyticsin production environments.

• Collaborate directly with customer stakeholders, acting as a bridge betweenbusiness needs, platform strategy and technical delivery.

• Support customers hands‑on in adopting best practices aroundData Engineering, DataOps, CI/CD, cloud architecture and platform enablement.

• Work in agile environments and contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery methods, accelerators and reusable assets.

• Stay up to date with the latest developments inDatabricks, cloud ecosystems and modern data architectures, and work together with market‑leading technology partners.

Qualifications:

• Completed studies incomputer science, mathematics, physics, engineeringor a comparable field

• Solid experience withPython, SQL, and optionally Java, Rust or similar

• Strong hands‑on experience indata engineering, building and operating scalable data pipelines and distributed data processing workloads

• Experience withDatabricks, or strong experience with comparable modern data platforms and a willingness to deepen expertise in the Databricks ecosystem

• Good understanding oflakehouse architecture, data modelling, batch and streaming pipelines, orchestration and platform operations

• Knowledge of cloud services fromAWS, Azure or GCP, ideally in the context of modern data platform deployments

• Experience withsoftware engineering best practices, including version control, CI/CD, testing, modular development and automation

• Ability to prioritise customer needs and create technical solutions that generate measurable business value

• Experience with agile development concepts likeScrum

• Strong communication skills and confidence in working directly with customer stakeholders in delivery-oriented environments

• ExcellentGermanskills, goodEnglishskills, and willingness to travel if required by the project
