About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and analytical FMCG Category Manager to lead and optimize product categories within their retail operations in Queenstown . This pivotal role involves defining product assortment, pricing strategies, promotional plans, and merchandising standards to maximize sales, profitability, and market share for assigned categories within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods sector. You will leverage deep consumer insights, market trends, and financial analysis to drive category performance and foster strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in category management, a comprehensive understanding of the FMCG market , and exceptional analytical and decision-making skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies, including assortment planning, pricing, promotions, and shelving based on consumer insights and market data.
• Analyze category performance, sales data, and market trends to identify growth opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and collaborate on product innovation and promotional activities.
• Develop compelling product presentations and business cases for internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Ensure optimal stock levels and product availability across all relevant channels.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field; MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or product management, specifically within the FMCG industry .
• Proven track record of successfully managing and growing product categories, driving sales and profitability.
• Strong analytical skills with expertise in retail sales data analysis and forecasting.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Deep understanding of consumer behavior, market dynamics, and the retail landscape within the FMCG sector .
