Drive Financial Excellence from the Inside - Financial Accountant (Senior) - Internal Finance Operations

Full-Time | Brisbane CBD | High-Impact Role Supporting the Finance Function

At Bentleys Queensland, our internal Finance team plays a critical role in delivering timely, accurate, and high-quality financial services to internal and external stakeholders. As our Financial Accountant, you'll work closely with the Finance Manager and wider team to manage core accounting functions, support compliance activities, and contribute to the smooth operation of our finance processes across all Australian entities.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented accountant with strong technical capability and a collaborative mindset, ready to take ownership of key finance functions in a professional services environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Month-End, Reporting & Compliance

  • Manage and contribute to monthly close activities, including accruals, prepayments, payroll accounting, leases, and fixed asset maintenance.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, payroll tax, and WorkCover returns for multiple Australian entities.
  • Support the preparation of FBT and income tax returns in collaboration with external advisors.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and documentation integrity.

Finance Operations & Process Improvement

  • Oversee AR/AP processes and treasury activities, including payment approvals and cash flow forecasting.
  • Work collaboratively across business units to ensure timely, accurate processing of accounting transactions.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance service delivery.
  • Act as a trusted team member and mentor, supporting colleagues with both recurring and ad hoc tasks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver finance support that meets evolving business needs.

What We're Looking For
  • CA or CPA qualified, with at least 5 years' experience in accounting or finance.
  • Strong month-end, compliance, and reconciliation experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel and exposure to financial systems such as Xero, MicroPay, and APS.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and integrity.
  • Clear and confident communication skills with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Experience in a professional services or multi-entity environment is advantageous.
