The Plaschka lab at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna is offering a Master’s student position to study a key step in human mRNA processing. The successful candidate will work on an essential multi-subunit complex and gain hands-on experience with cloning, purification, structure determination by cryo-electron microscopy, and functional assays.

The ideal applicant is highly motivated with an interest in structural biology and experience in standard biochemistry

Qualifikationen

• Strong interest in structural biology.
• Experience with standard biochemistry methods is required.
• Enrolled in a Master’s program related to molecular biology or biochemistry.

Aufgaben

• Carry out research on a key multi-subunit complex involved in mRNA processing.
• Perform cloning and purification of the complex from insect cells.
• Determine structure by cryo-EM and conduct functional assays.
