The North Face is seeking an exceptional Design & Materials Intern to join our team and support the creation of future‑focused product. In this role, you will work alongside Designers and the Material specialist to explore new concepts, explore materials and trims and elevate existing product ranges. The ideal intern is passionate about design, deeply curious about materials, meticulous in execution and energized by working as part of a highly collaborative team. Help shape future product collections by supporting material and trim development, trend research, and design execution across multiple categories. Gain hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment while contributing to innovative, consumer‑focused product solutions. How you'll make a difference Get ready to make an impact! Here’s what you’ll be responsible for joining our team: Support trend, consumer, and competitor research to identify emerging design, material, and color opportunities. Assist in the creation of design assets, including sketches, technical packs, color‑ups, style overviews, and presentation materials using Adobe Illustrator. Support the exploration and sourcing of fabrics, trims, organization/maintenance of archive & PLM as well as design details relevant to assigned product categories. Maintain and update design documentation, sketches, color‑ups, seasonal product information and product configuration system in FLEX and DASH throughout the development process. Collaborate closely with Designers, Material Specialist, cross‑functional partners and headquarters in Denver to support day‑to‑day product creation activities. Skills that will make you succeed A degree in Fashion Design or Textile Engineering is required given the nature of the role. Strong understanding of the materials, design process, including outdoor, lifestyle and technical products. Proficient in Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, with strong Illustrator skills. Creative, proactive, and open‑minded, with the ability to take initiative. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, working effectively within cross functional teams. Highly organized, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines in fast‑paced environments. A keen interest in design, materials innovation, sustainability, outdoor and performance products, and emerging consumer trends. You are fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills. Industry‑standard design tools and processes, including sketching, technical pack creation, colour‑ups, and presentation development using Adobe Illustrator, learning test methods for fabrics and trims. How cross‑functional teams collaborate throughout the product creation lifecycle, working closely with Design, Materials, Development and Merchandising teams. Trend, consumer, and competitor research methodologies, and how insights are translated into innovative product solutions. Best practices for managing design workflows and maintaining product information, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail throughout the season.
