Overview
St John of God Murdoch Hospital is a leading private health campus in Western Australia with 507 beds, offering emergency department services, operating theatres, endoscopy suites, a birth suite and maternity ward, medical library and education centre. As the Deputy Director of Nursing Specialist Services, you will provide leadership and strategic direction for the Directorate to meet hospital objectives, supporting quality improvement, risk management, accreditation and licensing processes.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to and promotes the development of the Hospital's goals, objectives, policies and standards.
- Provides clinical leadership to establish and maintain the highest standards of nursing practice in a patient-focused environment.
- Develops, implements and evaluates quality programs and provides leadership to ensure nursing care aligns with best practice standards.
- Oversee and assist in preparing annual capital and operating budgets for the nursing directorate and ensure financial and productivity targets are met; investigate variances and develop corrective strategies.
- Provide leadership to caregivers, building a culture of professionalism, accountability and quality service.
- In consultation with departmental managers, ensure nursing division, hospital and departmental policies are implemented, reviewed and evaluated.
- Promote continuing professional development of nursing staff and others within the directorate.
- Participate in relevant clinical and non-clinical committees; monitor compliance with clinical practice standards and initiate corrective action as required.
- Support managers in delivering cost-effective nursing and clinical care.
- Maintain teamwork and collaboration across the Nursing Division and with visiting medical practitioners.
- Responsible for performance development and review of caregivers within the directorate.
- Ensure compliance with legal, professional and policy requirements governing health care provision and nursing practice within service delivery.
Qualifications
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse.
- Post-graduate qualifications in Nursing, Management or relevant discipline, or progression towards.
- Senior management experience and leadership in an acute hospital facility is essential to achieve and maintain National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards Accreditation and Department of Health Licensing.
