The Dean of Primary Years is a pivotal senior leadership role which has carriage of leadership and management across all aspects of Primary Years (Years 5 & 6).
As a member of Iona's Leadership Team, the Dean of Primary Years supports the future focus of Iona's strategic plan by fostering and enhancing student growth in learning, academic standards and wellbeing, whilst leading staff pedagogical practice. Additionally, the Dean of Primary Years leads the promotion and development of effective strategies and programs across the Primary Years, that are based on contemporary research about teaching, learning and wellbeing.
This role supports the strategic vision of the College which dares our young men to be authentic, grounded, respectful and connected to a community that serves and inspires others.
Through your visionary leadership, you will...
Shape and operationalise teaching and learning, spiritual formation, pastoral care, and administration across Iona's Primary Years
Partner with Senior Leadership and Middle Leaders to drive the review of curriculum frameworks and plan future directions within the Primary Years curriculum and wellbeing areas
Oversee the application of contemporary learning and teaching research and data analysis to classroom practice through continuous whole-school strategic and professional development
Nurture the growth and development of Primary Years, our students and our teachers
About You:
As an experienced leader, you inspire enthusiasm to create a culture and environment which stimulates learning, growth mindsets and promotes engagement and excellence from both students and teachers alike. You will have:
Accomplished expertise in a Middle Leadership role within a primary context
A robust and current understanding of young boys (in particular, students aged from ten (10) to twelve (12) years old) and boys’ education
Recognised capabilities in strategic and operational leadership including leading staff pedagogical practice
Proven experience in driving improvement, innovation and change in teaching performance, wellbeing education and safety leadership
Demonstrated ability to lead and work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team, while holding others to high standards of professionalism, accountability, and performance
Ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents and our Iona College community
Exemplary professional conduct
