GEBIE Civil and Construction (GCC) is the commercial subsidiary of Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Enterprises Aboriginal Corporation (GEBIE). GCC undertakes Civil and Construction projects across the Groote Archipelago and has a commercial workshop for vehicles, plant, and equipment.

GCC are seeking an experienced Civil Manager to join the team and work in the community to deliver a wide range of projects. Reporting to the General Manager and working alongside the senior management team you will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of current and future projects including subdivisions, stormwater, sewer, drainage, road construction and re-rehabilitation, bulk earthworks, landscaping, and environmental remediation works.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

Work with the Senior Management team to plan and review the overall status of projects on an ongoing basis

Oversee the operation of plant and equipment and quarry to ensure all operations are carried out in accordance with projects documents, contract obligations and internal company policies and procedures

Work closely with Project Supervisors to control and maintain daily project planning and scheduling of works

Ensure timely purchase of all materials and sub-contractors in accordance with specifications, taking into consideration price, quality, programming and standards of service

Manage project expenditure, review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices and provide input for monthly claims

Assist the contracts team on tenders and provide input into variations, quotes and future works

Maintain regular communication and attend site meetings with clients and external stakeholders

As required, provide advice, support and assistance to the team and clients in relation to any technical / complex problems that may arise on site

Review and interpret permits, plans and technical drawings

Build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders

Assist in the development and training of staff, particularly providing opportunities for Indigenous staff

Skills and Experience required:

5+ years’ experience Managing Civil Projects in Australia

Extensive knowledge in project programming, cost and quality control, procurement and supplier engagement

Strong commercial, financial and contract knowledge

Demonstrated and effective leadership skills

Attention to detail, excellent time management and organisational skills

Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Able to pass a full pre-employment medical

This is a residential role with accommodation provided in Alyangula, Groote Eylandt
