Jobbeschreibung

Close leadership team - collaborative workplace

Robert Half Executive Search has been exclusively retained by a dynamic Australian-owned engineering and industrial automation group to appoint a Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

With a three-decade track record of innovation and national success, the group is now poised for its next phase of expansion - and seeks a commercially astute, hands-on CFO to lead that financial journey.

Serving blue-chip clients across Mining, Utilities, and Manufacturing, the company combines deep technical expertise with a purpose-driven ethos: enhancing operational performance while advancing community sustainability and safety.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be trusted to support both the strategic, commercial and operational goals of the group's national expansion strategy. This will include potential acquisitions, system transformation, and commercial optimisation.

You will play a pivotal role in strengthening operational excellence, forecasting, cash flow discipline, and enterprise-wide decision support, while building out a scalable finance function that adds value well beyond compliance.

This is a rare opportunity for a well-rounded hands on finance leader to drive strategic impact in purpose led and evolving, values-led business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Leadership - Lead financial strategy, forecasting, and performance reporting to guide growth and profitability.
  • M&A and Capital Management - Drive the full M&A lifecycle, from due diligence through to integration, and optimise the capital structure to support expansion.
  • ERP & Systems Optimisation - Modernise financial systems and reporting capabilities to unlock better decision-making and efficiency.
  • Business Partnering - Provide commercial insight and financial stewardship across projects, operations, and growth initiatives.
  • Risk and Working Capital Management - Strengthen cash flow, risk management, and financial governance frameworks.
  • Team Development - Build, mentor, and empower a capable finance team with a strong service and performance culture.

Your Profile

You are a CA/CPA-qualified finance leader with a proven track record in broad, hands-on roles - ideally within project-based sectors such as Engineering, Infrastructure, Mining services or related Manufacturing.

You combine analytical rigour with a commercial mindset, and are energised by leading both Finance, commercial and operational teams through change, business process improvement and growth.

Key attributes include:

  • Experience in growth-stage or SME environments, with direct exposure to executive decision-making.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with strong stakeholder and Board engagement skills.
  • Depth in M&A, systems transformation, cash flow, and commercial finance.
  • A leadership style that inspires excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Why Join?

  • High-Impact Role: Work side-by-side with a visionary CEO and Board.
  • Growth Mandate: Be at the forefront of national expansion, including acquisitions.
  • Engineering for Good: Help scale a business that blends technical innovation with purpose.
  • Culture of Integrity: Join a values-led organisation built on trust, safety, and excellence.
