University of Graz is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) to conduct independent research in the mathematics of machine learning and related areas. The role includes teaching duties and program administration within the Department of Mathematics and Scientific Computing in Graz.

The position requires a completed PhD in a mathematical discipline and strong English communication skills, with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and involvement in cutting edge projects.

Qualifikationen

• Completed doctoral studies in a mathematical discipline (or related fields such as statistics or computer science).
• Profound knowledge in mathematical methods, analysis and numerical aspects of machine learning, optimal transport, data science, harmonic analysis, or biology/medicine applications.
• Ability to integrate into the department’s research profile and contribute to interdisciplinary cooperation projects.
• Independent working style in research, teaching and administration.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Capacity for teamwork, organizational talent and communication.

Your Responsibilities

• Independent research and publication activities in the field of „mathematics of machine learning”
• Participation in ongoing research projects as well as the development of new research initiatives in the fields of mathematics of machine learning, optimal transport, classification algorithms, and their applications in biology and medicine
• Independent teaching of courses and administration of examinations for the study programs offered by the institute.
• Academic and organizational support for students of the institute.

Your Profile

• Completed doctoral or Ph.D. studies in a mathematical discipline (or in related fields such as statistics or computer science).
