Job Description
This position is located in the Solutions Transformation (ST) Team in the Software Products for Member States Unit (SPMS), Digital Transformation and Solutions (DTS), Information Technology Service (ITS), Division for Management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV)/United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna (Austria). The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Solutions Architect, Software Products for Member States (SPMS), and the overall guidance of the Chief, Software Products for Member States (SPMS).
Responsibilities
- Full-stack development, testing, and debugging applications using Angular, SQL, and Microsoft .NET technologies.
- Ensure compliance with established development procedures, requirements, and UNODC policies, guidelines, and procedures for software development.
- Develop, test, and debug applications using Search Engine based on Elasticsearch, if applicable.
- Prepare detailed technical and user documentation for deployed computer application systems and conduct technical presentations.
- Maintain functional specifications for computer application systems, programs, and procedures developed or modified.
- Follow version management standards for the computer applications being developed.
- Participate in analyzing requirements and propose technically feasible solutions.
- Support installation and setup of goAML in member states following established guidelines, as needed.
- Participate in software configuration by identifying and documenting the scope of the product and communicating this to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide support for application systems deployed in Member States.
- Maintain open communication channels with clients and engage via relevant Virtual Community platforms.
- Assist in collecting and analyzing data, identifying trends, and providing insights through visualizations such as graphs, charts, and tables for data-driven decision-making.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in information systems, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related fields is required.
- A first-level university degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
- Relevant Microsoft development certification is desirable. Certification in ITIL is also desirable.
Work Experience
- Applicants with an advanced university degree are not required to have professional work experience. Those with a first-level degree need at least two years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of computer information systems using Microsoft .NET/C#, ASP.NET, and SQL is desirable.
- Experience with agile development approaches, UI/UX design, Fintech, Regtech, data analytics, or within the UN system is advantageous.
Languages
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of French and Spanish is an advantage, as is knowledge of other UN official languages.
