At Borealis, our Application Development Engineers are more than technical advisors—they are curious, forward-thinking collaborators who create value by actively listening and working closely with diverse stakeholders inside and outside the company. They play a key role in developing and implementing product solutions in various different applications.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with a broad range of materials—compounds, base polymers, circular polyolefins—primarily in injection molding applications plus some extrusion. Your responsibilities will span both complex challenges that require creativity and quicker wins that bring immediate impact.

* Be the key technical contact for our customers for existing and new business
* Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, translating them into product needs and commercial solutions in collaboration with Marketing and Sales teams
* Provide expert guidance on processing, material properties, and application performance, while offering hands-on technical support and troubleshooting
* Advise customers on product selection and application optimization
* Contribute to the development and implementation of new or enhanced product solutions tailored to customer and market needs
* Build and maintain a strong network of key stakeholders in the appliance and structured products market
* Replace metal and engineering plastics in technical applications

You hold a technical degree in polymer science / engineering or a related field, and bring experience in a customer-facing role such as technical service, application development, business development or similar.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in injection molding. Experience with polyolefins is a plus. Beyond your technical skills, you bring commercial awareness and the ability to recognize the value of new opportunities and solutions. A solution driven mindset is essential.

You are a collaborative team player who also thrives when working independently. If you are curious, creative, and driven—someone who enjoys variety, values meaningful connections, and is energized by technical challenges—this role could be a great fit. Please note that this position involves regular business travel (approximately 50%) across EU and non-EU countries.

Your salary package will reflect your profile, experience and the specifics of the country/location you apply for.

Should you join us in one of our Austrian locations and according to Austrian law , we offer compensation based on the collective labor agreement starting at EUR 65.605,54 annual gross salary (based on 38 hrs/week) plus a yearly bonus, and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background.
