Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH, Vienna, is seeking an AI Solutions Lead for Manufacturing & Industrials to identify high-value AI use cases with customers and translate challenges into feasible solutions across quality, maintenance, and production optimisation.

You will mentor interdisciplinary teams, guide architectures and data pipelines, contribute to MVPs, and ensure trustworthy AI while advancing our AI service portfolio.

Qualifikationen

• Several years of experience designing or delivering AI/ML solutions in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial value chains.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and translate between business, production, and technical perspectives.
• Good knowledge of data engineering and scalable data infrastructures.

AI:AT – the AI Factory Austria – is making Austria a hotspot for Artificial Intelligence in Europe.

AI:AT is a joint project of AIT and Advanced Computing Austria. It brings together top-level expertise in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and data ecosystems, creating an interdisciplinary innovation environment for research, development, start-ups, and industrial projects.

AI:AT – the AI Factory Austria – provides access to cutting-edge AI infrastructure, promotes trustworthy AI and ethical standards, and serves as a hub for networking with national and European partners. The goal is to work with partners from industry and public institutions to develop and implement forward-looking AI technologies and viable AI solutions.

As part of the collaboration within the AI Factory Austria, the Austrian Institute of Technology will delegate experts to the AI Factory Austria. For our location in Vienna (Karl-Farkas Gasse, 1030), we are seeking a:

AI Solutions Lead (f/m/d) – Manufacturing & Industrials

AI:AT AI FACTORY AUSTRIA

• You work closely with customers to identify high-value AI use cases and translate operational challenges into feasible technical solutions. Typical application areas include quality inspection, predictive maintenance, process and production optimisation, supply-chain planning, robotics and industrial automation, energy and resource efficiency, digital twins, asset management, industrial knowledge management, and decision-support systems.
• You advise and mentor interdisciplinary teams in designing and delivering AI solutions for the manufacturing and industrials sectors, providing guidance on solution architectures, AI and data pipelines, and engineering best practices. Where appropriate, you also contribute to proof-of-concepts and early-stage MVPs.
• You continuously develop and improve our AI and data service portfolio based on current and emerging needs across manufacturing and industrials.
• You guide customer teams in deploying and operating AI and machine-learning solutions in production environments in accordance with established domain and engineering best practices.
• You contribute to the development and delivery of AI training formats, including workshops, technical tutorials, and knowledge-sharing sessions, helping organisations build internal AI capabilities.
• You ensure that trustworthy AI principles are considered throughout the solution lifecycle.
• You support the sustainable exploitation of project results, for example through technology transfer, licensing, patents, spin-offs, or the transition of prototypes into operational solutions.
• Where appropriate, you represent AI Factory Austria at workshops, innovation programmes, industry events, and ecosystem activities, contributing to the visibility and impact of applied AI initiatives.
• A completed master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or a related field
• Several years of experience in designing, advising on, or delivering AI and machine-learning solutions in manufacturing or other industrial environments
• A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, industrial value chains, and the practical requirements for introducing AI into production and operational workflows
• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for industrial AI solutions, including data quality, system integration, robustness, scalability, maintainability, and deployment under real-world operating conditions
• The ability to communicate effectively with customers, understand their operational context, and translate between business, production, and technical perspectives
• Good knowledge of data engineering, scalable data infrastructures, and the integration of heterogeneous data sources, including sensor, machine, production, and enterprise data
• Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to communicate effectively with technical experts, production teams, management, and external partners
• Excellent German and good English communication skills
• Eligibility to work in Austria

• The gross annual salary starts at EUR 68.152,-- as a minimum according to the non-university collective agreement. The actual total salary package is determined individually according to your qualifications and experience.
