Position Summary

Create and maintain packaging BOM and manage the ERP structure in order to satisfy the requirements of the Customer, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Distribution. Support both internally manufactured product FP and Outpurchased products. Work with Global Packaging Engineering to design new product packaging and packaging methods. Recommend and provide economic and productivity analyses of packaging and material handling projects; responsible for the design, development, establishment, and maintenance of packaging specifications and procedures for the Gates Corporation. Develop specifications using AutoCAD and assign packaging types to BOM using the Oracle system.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Create final packaging specification to assure product finishing is complete, accurate and efficient.
• Develop and maintain packaging BOM’s for products (both manufactured and outpurchased) and align specification with product BOM structure.
• Achieve packaging cost-downs by using alternative materials or packaging methods. Analyze and report on alternatives to assure improvement.
• Create packaging specifications using AutoCAD drafting software
• Coordinate with international affiliates and customers to ensure packaging satisfies their requirements. Solve export damage problems resulting from improper packaging.
• Perform packaging audits at the COHISA manufacturing facility
• Ensure proper implementation of all packaging and branding changes.
• Has developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience
• Completes a variety of atypical assignments, as needed
• Works within defined processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments

Requirements And Preferred Skills

• 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, packaging or industry-related function.
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Production Processes Engineering, or a related engineering field
• Experience in product specifications, packaging and manufacturing processes, understanding of packaging materials.
• Understanding of product specifications, Bill of Materials content and ERP systems hierarchy.
• Knowledgeable regarding the various packaging container styles, including their costs, ease of use, protection potential, durability, etc.
• Experience in AutoCAD or other drafting software.
• Knowledgeable regarding protection techniques applicable to Gates products, including choice of materials, carton styles, pallet-load strengthening or stabilization, etc.
• Understanding of various print methodologies used on packaging materials.
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. Candidate will communicate frequently with a wide variety of associates.
• Fluent in English language.
