Proofpoint is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to strengthen the Unified Detection team, focusing on backend systems powering our email security products. You will work on highly distributed, scalable services protecting major brands' email platforms.

The role requires 8+ years building critical software, proficiency in Golang and Python, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver state-of-the-art security solutions.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a similar technical field.
• 8+ years of demonstrated experience building critical software products.
• Proficiency in coding in Golang and Python.
• Strong understanding of highly distributed architecture.
• Experience with secured APIs (REST, GraphQL).
• Cloud computing experience (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, preferred.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Kibana).
• Strong experience with agile development teams.
• Understanding of performance tuning best practices.

The Role

The Security Products and Services Group is the core of Proofpoint’s success, and you will be contributing to our efforts to do what we do, even better. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Unified Detection team, you will be focused on the back-end systems that power our industry leading products focused on email Security. These highly sophisticated systems are responsible for protecting the corporate email platform of some of the largest brands in the world. We are looking for someone who is an outstanding team player with a positive attitude and high energy, to help us deliver state-of-the-art products.

What you'll do

• Lead efforts to design, implement software and support systems using industry best-practices
• Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to identify and implement software solutions to business problems
• Build automation tooling to help monitor production systems
• Address customer reported bugs and provide production support
• Drive usage of best application patterns, technologies, and practices
• Design highly scalable and resilient applications
• Mentor team members

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar technical field of study
• 8+ years of demonstrated experience building critical software products
• Proficiency in coding in any language, preferably Golang and Python
• Strong understanding of highly distributed architecture
• Experience working with secured APIs (REST, GraphQL, etc)
• Cloud computing experience (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar)
• Experience in Docker and Kubernetes, preferred
• Experience working with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Kibana, etc)
• Strong experience working with agile development teams
• Understanding of best practices in performance tuning
• Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
