CookUnity is seeking a Sr. Accounting Analyst to own prepaid expense reconciliations, lease accounting, and expense analysis across software, insurance, utilities, and general operating expenses. This role supports the monthly close with accurate records and detailed variance explanations.

Reporting to the Sr. Accounting Manager, this full-time position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, balance sheet reconciliations, and the ability to manage assigned processes independently while

Formación

  • 3–4 years of accounting or audit experience.
  • Advanced English with clear communication in writing and verbally.
  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing prepaid expense reconciliations and amortization schedules.
  • Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of expense recognition and classification of rent/utilities.
  • Experience performing variance analysis and explaining drivers.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.

Responsabilidades

  • Own the monthly close for assigned accounts, preparing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments within deadlines.
  • Maintain clear and well-documented account reconciliations.
  • Maintain lease accounting under ASC 842, including schedules and reconciliations of ROU assets and lease liabilities.
  • Review lease agreements and coordinate treatment with Accounting Manager.
  • Ensure proper classification of rent, utilities, and occupancy expenses.
  • Own prepaid expense reconciliations and amortization schedules.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis for operating expenses and explain movements.
  • Review invoices and contracts to identify missing accruals and timing differences.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve items.
  • Collaborate with AP, FP&A, Legal, and Operations to ensure accurate expense recognition.
  • Maintain process documentation and internal controls.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external audits.
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Support ad hoc accounting projects as needed.

You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative Accounting & Finance team that truly partners with Operations and Supply Chain. The Role

We’re looking for a Sr. Accounting Analyst to own prepaid expense reconciliations, lease accounting, and expense analysis across software, insurance, utilities, and general operating expenses.

This role plays a key part in the monthly close, ensuring accurate accounting records, complete supporting documentation, and clear explanations of account variances. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with curiosity, attention to detail, is adept at balance sheet account reconciliations and the ability to independently manage assigned processes.

The position reports directly to the Sr. Accounting Manager and is a full-time role.

Responsibilities
  • Own the monthly close for assigned accounts, preparing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments within established deadlines.
  • Prepares and maintains clear and well documented account reconciliations for their area of responsibility.
  • Maintain lease accounting under ASC 842, including lease schedules, monthly entries, and reconciliations of right-of-use assets and lease liabilities using 3rd part lease accounting software.
  • Review lease agreements, amendments, renewals, and terminations, identifying accounting implications and coordinating the appropriate treatment with the Accounting Manager.
  • Ensure proper classification and recording of rent, utilities, and other occupancy-related expenses based on contract terms and applicable accounting policies.
  • Own prepaid expense reconciliations and amortization schedules, ensuring expenses are recognized in the appropriate periods.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis for software, insurance, utilities, rent, and general operating expenses, investigating movements and providing clear, supported explanations.
  • Review invoices, contracts, and account activity to identify missing accruals, coding errors, and timing differences.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and proactively resolve outstanding items.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable, FP&A, Legal, Operations, and other stakeholders to obtain timely information and ensure accurate expense recognition.
  • Maintain process documentation and support internal controls across assigned areas.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external audits.
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives, reviewing outputs critically to ensure accuracy.
  • Support ad hoc accounting projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • 3–4 years of relevant experience in accounting or audit roles.
  • Advanced English skills, with the ability to communicate accounting matters clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing prepaid expense reconciliations and amortization schedules.
  • Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of expense recognition and the distinction between rent, utilities, and other occupancy-related charges.
  • Experience performing account variance analysis and explaining the underlying business drivers.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound accounting judgment.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned responsibilities, meet deadlines, and proactively communicate issues or roadblocks.
  • Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with LeaseQuery.
  • US GAAP knowledge, including ASC 842 lease accounting.
  • Experience with NetSuite.
  • Experience with multi-currency entities.
  • Experience improving accounting processes through automation or AI tools, including validating the accuracy of their outputs.
