GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Specialist Java Developer (with AWS experience) in Argentina - Buenos Aires. You will join Roku APPS team, building large-scale backend services and microservices with Java, Docker, and Kubernetes.

The role emphasizes system architecture, cloud-first design, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has 6–8+ years of distributed systems experience, strong Java skills, and hands-on AWS experience.

• 5+ years of hands-on Java experience.
• 4+ years working with cloud based platforms and infrastructure.
• RESTful microservices with Java and Docker on Kubernetes/Amazon.
• Relational DBs (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB).
• Protobuf, WebSockets, JSON; AWS ALB/ECS/EC2/Route 53 familiarity.
• CAP theorem awareness and ability to lead backend design discussions.
• Bachelor's or higher degree in CS/Engineering.

The clientteam is a group of highly skilled technologists that builds innovative platform products and services that enable over 100M+ users and streaming devices. We connect users to the streaming content they love and enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences. We work on a range of critical services that power the Roku eco-system, including device and account setup, identity, authentication, channel distribution to devices, and channel publishing.

Requirements

• 6 to 8+ years of experience building large scale distributed systems.
• 5+ years of hands-on Java experience
• 4+ years working with cloud based platforms and infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience building RESTful microservices using Java and Docker and managing them on container platforms such as Kubernetes/Amazon, etc
• Hands-on experience with event-based messaging systems such as Kafka (Nice to have)
• Solid understanding of relational databases such as MySQL/PostgreSQL and noSQL databases such as DynamoDB, etc
• Experience with a breadth of protocols and data formats such as REST, JSON, HTTPS, Protobuf, WebSockets.
• Hands on experience working with AWS ALB, ECS, EC2, Route 53 and/or other cloud services.
• An understanding of system concepts and approaches such as eventual consistency and CAP theorem.
• Ability and desire to lead design and implementation of backend services coupled with a deep understanding of different data platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to drive timely consensus in design with other senior team members.
• B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.

What you’ll be doing

• Build extremely large-scale platform products and services, used both by Roku engineers from across the company, and directly by consumers across millions of devices.
• Work with Product/Design teams to iterate and build software, taking a concept from ideation to its production deployment and support.
• Lead efforts to evaluate new technologies and continue to push for best practices across the entire development life cycle, including code and design reviews.
• Managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Participate in the Agile development process, including scoping, technical design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
