Sovos is hiring a Software Engineer to join our global development teams. You will help build next-generation tax compliance solutions used by Fortune 500 clients and thousands of businesses worldwide.

You’ll work across time zones, growing from individual tasks to technical consulting in your area of expertise. You will contribute to modern engineering practices, document knowledge, and support customers with reliable, scalable software.

Formación

• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical software engineering experience.
• 1 year of professional software development or internship experience.
• Strong foundation in software development principles and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to communicate clearly across cultures and time zones.
• Familiarity with AI tools relevant to development.

Responsabilidades

• Participate in all SDLC activities, including planning and standups, driving continuous improvement.
• Write high-quality code using TDD and CI practices for robust, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with Product and QA to refine requirements and deliver value.
• Work in cross-functional teams through the full product lifecycle from inception to delivery.
• Pair program with teammates to share knowledge and improve code quality.

The Work You'll Do

As a Software Engineer at Sovos, you'll be instrumental in building the next generation of tax compliance solutions that power global commerce. Working within our agile development teams, you'll apply systematic approaches to develop, deliver, and maintain software products that serve half of the Fortune 500 and thousands of businesses worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies while collaborating with talented professionals across different time zones and cultures. You'll be empowered to grow from executing individual tasks to becoming a technical consultant in your areas of expertise, all while working on solutions that directly impact how businesses navigate complex regulatory landscapes across 100+ countries.

More Specifically, You Will

• Actively participate in all SDLC activities including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand Ups, Story Time, and retrospectives, contributing to ccontinuous improvement of team processes
• Develop high-quality code using Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI) practices, ensuring robust and scalable solutions
• Complete individual tasks independently while collaborating effectively with Product Managers, Product Owners, Quality Assurance, Experience Design, and technical staff to refine requirements and deliver value
• Participate in cross-functional teams to deliver solutions from inception through customer delivery, gaining exposure to the full product lifecycle
• Pair program effectively with both junior and senior developers, fostering knowledge sharing and code quality across the team
• Build expertise in at least one technical specialty (Database, SAP, Web Development, Cloud Technologies) while developing competency in Sovos applications
• Maintain and update technical documentation, ensuring knowledge is preserved and shared across the organization
• Triage and resolve engineering escalations, developing problem-solving skills through real-world challenges
• Collaborate with team members to solve complex problems using AI-powered development tools and modern engineering practices
• Troubleshoot issues and bugs within your application area, contributing to system stability and customer satisfaction

What We Need From You

• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical software engineering experience
• 6-12 months of professional software development experience or relevant internship experience
• Strong foundation in software development principles and eagerness to learn new technologies
• Ability to interact effectively with teammates, colleagues, and customers across different cultures and time zones
• Capability to comprehend and communicate complex technical concepts clearly
• Strong analytical skills to concentrate on and resolve complex problems
• Proficiency with development tools and AI technologies relevant to your role
• Growth mindset with commitment to continuous learning and improvement
• English proficiency (written and verbal) for global team collaboration
