Sovos is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage and scale the database infrastructure powering our global tax-compliance SaaS applications. You will ensure performance, security, and availability of production SQL Server environments, keeping mission-critical systems healthy and responsive.

You will lead patches, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery efforts, mentor junior DBAs, and collaborate with software engineers and product teams to optimize schemas and query design.

• Hands-on experience managing production SQL Server databases.
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.
• Proven ability to lead patches, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime.
• Strong collaboration with software engineers and product teams.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as a subject matter expert for critical database technologies, leading resolution of complex incidents and performance issues across SQL Server environments.
• Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning solutions to optimize query response times and system throughput.
• Collaborate with software engineers and tech leads to review query designs and schema changes, ensuring efficiency and scalability prior to deployment.
• Lead the implementation of patches, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime, including backup/recovery strategies, high-availability setups, and disaster recovery testing.
• Mentor and support junior DBAs and application teams, driving adoption of database best practices across the organization.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling and automation to streamline monitoring, root cause analysis, and operational workflows.
• Communicate database health, maintenance status, and potential risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
