Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks a Senior Java Engineer to build and evolve a Backend for Frontend service layer powering high-traffic mobile experiences for clients worldwide. You will design and implement REST APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and modern patterns, focusing on reliability and performance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, write unit tests, participate in CI pipelines, and help optimize complex systems for scalability, while continuously improving code quality and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of Java backend development experience.
• Strong Spring Boot and REST API design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver Backend for Frontend API layer for mobile clients.
• Build server-side services in Java using Spring Boot and modern patterns.
• Implement and maintain REST APIs with attention to usability and consistency.
• Write unit tests and enforce quality gates through CI.
• Collaborate with engineers, product partners, designers, and QA to ship features.
• Integrate with existing backend services and handle compatibility constraints.
• Propose solutions for ambiguous problems and communicate technical tradeoffs.
