AgileEngine is seeking a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable systems in Java and/or Kotlin with Spring Boot, GraphQL, MongoDB, and Aurora MySQL on AWS. You’ll work within a product‑led engineering team, handling compliance, observability, and cost‑savings tasks while delivering robust backend services.

The role requires 3+ years in backend development, strong Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, and AWS experience, plus familiarity with MongoDB Atlas and Aurora MySQL.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable systems for a Product-led engineering team. This person works in Java and/or Kotlin with Spring Boot, GraphQL, MongoDB, and Aurora MySQL on AWS, covering everything from operational tooling to system architecture. Comfort picking up compliance, cost-savings, and observability work matters here.

MUST HAVES

• 3+ years of professional, backend-focused software development experience.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable software systems.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design, validating solutions through data and experimentation where appropriate.
• Participate in code reviews and design reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers.
• Partner with a Product Manager and fellow engineers to clarify requirements and perform mid-level design work, focusing primarily on coding, testing, and documentation.
