Job summary

EPAM Systems in Argentina seeks a Senior Java Server-side Engineer to develop a Backend-for-Frontend service layer powering high-traffic mobile experiences worldwide. You will work with engineers, product partners, designers, and QA to ship reliable APIs and clean code.

Responsibilities include architecting the BFF API, building REST endpoints, profiling performance, modernizing legacy code, and ensuring test coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of server-side Java development experience.
• Spring Boot expert for building and maintaining services.
• REST API development including legacy service integration.
• Strong problem-solving and algorithm/data structure knowledge.
• Experience with CI workflows and build tools.
• English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate (B2) level or higher.
• Ability to analyze and optimize backend performance.
• Unit testing with a test-driven mindset.
• Self-starter with ownership and proactive communication.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop Backend-for-Frontend API layer for mobile apps.
• Build REST endpoints and service contracts for mobile journeys.
• Improve performance via profiling and targeted enhancements.
• Refactor legacy code for maintainability and reliability.
• Write clean, testable code with strong unit tests.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, design, and QA.
• Support CI workflows and build tooling.
• Design APIs and data models to ensure great user experience.
