Job summary

EPAM Systems in Argentina is seeking a Lead Java Server-side Engineer to drive a Backend-for-Frontend service layer powering high-traffic mobile products used by clients worldwide. You will architect REST endpoints, optimize performance, modernize legacy code, ensure test coverage, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver features end-to-end.

You will work with a global, skilled team and contribute to CI workflows, build tooling, and API design decisions to deliver robust services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• 5+ years of server-side Java experience.
• Strong collaboration in senior, cross-functional environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build the Backend-for-Frontend API layer used by mobile apps.
• Implement REST endpoints and define service contracts aligned to mobile flows.
• Profile and optimize backend performance.
• Modernize legacy code for reliability and readability.
• Write clean, testable code with strong unit test coverage.
• Integrate with existing backend services and manage dependencies.
• Diagnose defects and release patches quickly.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, design, and QA to deliver features end-to-end.
• Contribute to CI workflows and improve build tooling.
• Influence API and data design to promote great user experience.
• Reduce technical debt by removing redundant code.
