AgileEngine is seeking a Sr. Full-Stack Software Engineer for a fully remote, contractor role with ~15 hours per week. You will work across frontend and backend to develop and optimize enterprise-grade software, focusing on integrating Rails/Angular-like stacks with robust APIs and data models.

The position emphasizes collaborative problem solving and scalable design. The role offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to contribute to AI-enabled projects for Fortune 500 clients.

• 3+ years of experience building web applications using MVC frameworks (Rails, Entity, Spring, or equivalent).
• 3+ years of experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.).
• 3+ years of experience with HTML/CSS and responsive design.
• 3+ years of converting wireframes to functional features.
• Experience with agile development and adaptable to changing requirements.
• Strong communication and leadership potential; proactive team contributor.
• Experience with Git and GitHub; comfortable in on-call rotations with SLAs/SLOs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to help design and scale a platform used by enterprise procurement teams. This role blends frontend and backend ownership, working across React and Ruby on Rails to turn wireframes into production features. You'll collaborate closely with product, data science, and design to solve complex, ambiguous problems as part of a growing engineering team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Drive innovation and build scalable solutions.

- Work with Product Management and Staff Tech Leads to estimate and commit.

- Implement best practices, methodologies, and tools to optimize the development process and increase efficiency.

- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior leadership, to provide updates on project status, risks, and issues.

- Participate in an on-call rotation.

MUST HAVES

- 3+ years of experience building web applications using Rails, Entity, Spring, or a similar MVC framework.

- 3+ years of experience working with SQL databases, ideally ANSI-compliant relational databases like Postgres and RDS.

- 3+ years of experience using HTML and CSS, and styling various kinds of applications for the web.

- 3+ years of experience taking wireframes or mockups and converting them into clean and functional features.

- Experience with agile development methodologies and willingness to embrace changing requirements.

- Exceptional interpersonal skills, a strategic mindset, and a proactive approach to driving team success and achieving organizational goals. Leadership ambitions are a plus.

- A performance mindset that encompasses client-side and server-side performance optimization and techniques.

- Experience using Git for source control with GitHub.

- Experience working in fast-moving environments with on-call rotations and documented SLAs, SLOs, RPOs, and RTOs.

NICE TO HAVES

- Experience working with large datasets and building scalable frontend architectures that take into consideration HTTP requests, SQL queries, and memory management.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to develop backend services and APIs while modernizing application architecture.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Spend the majority of your time (approx. 70–80%) designing and implementing robust backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

- Build and maintain the supporting Angular frontend, ensuring a seamless connection between the UI and your backend logic.

- Lead the transition from traditional database-centric designs toward a domain-driven structure (DDD).

- Architect RESTful APIs that prioritize proper HTTP verbs and clean, scalable patterns over legacy RPC styles.

- Work within cross-functional squads to deliver high-quality features while maintaining the cohesive and proactive spirit of the team.

MUST HAVES

- 4+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot, along with solid working knowledge of Angular.

- A strong grasp of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and software design patterns.

- Deep experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, with a clear understanding of standard API protocols.

- Experience working with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL and Oracle, and JPA/Hibernate.

- Strong SQL skills to navigate and optimize very complex SQL, along with robust transactional database experience and a thorough understanding of enterprise-level, high-transactional platforms. Lacking this specific database proficiency will be a direct reason for rejection.

- A passion for server-side logic, performance, and architecture.

NICE TO HAVES

- Experience working with spec-driven development or related AI-Driven Software Development Life Cycle approaches.

- Previous experience in the Loyalty or Fintech sectors.

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker).
