Job summary

RYZ Labs is seeking a Senior Engineer to own critical parts of the platform, from system design to production code and long-term reliability. A key focus is hands-on work with maps, coordinates, and geospatial data: extracting geometry from documents, placing it at real latitude and longitude, measuring it, and exporting it for field use.

You will contribute to scalable geospatial features, collaborate with a distributed team across LatAm and the US, and help shape architecture as the product

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building production software with ownership of architecture.
• Strong production experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with maps, coordinates, geospatial data in real-world app.
• Experience with GIS, GeoJSON, KML, routing, asset mapping, fleet tracking, logistics, agriculture, drones, or similar geospatial apps.
• Experience handling messy real-world data with inconsistencies, missing fields, or unreliable sources.
• Experience building systems where outputs can have business consequences.
• Strong judgment about data quality and when to indicate that an answer cannot be determined.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Job description

Ryz Labs is looking for a Senior Engineer to take ownership of key parts of the platform, from system design and architecture to production code and long-term reliability.

This role has one specific requirement: hands-on experience working with maps, coordinates, and geospatial data. A major part of the platform involves extracting geometry from documents, placing it at real-world coordinates, measuring it, and exporting it for use in the field.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production software, with increasing ownership of architecture and technical decisions.
• Strong production experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Hands-on experience working with maps, coordinates, geometry, or geospatial data in a real-world application.
• Experience with one or more of the following: GIS, GeoJSON, KML, routing, asset mapping, fleet tracking, logistics, agriculture, drones, or similar geospatial applications.
• Experience working with messy real-world data, including inconsistent formats, missing fields, and unreliable or incomplete sources.
• Experience building systems where incorrect outputs can have meaningful business consequences.
• Strong judgment around data quality, correctness, and when a system should explicitly indicate that an answer cannot be determined.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Background in civil engineering, surveying, asphalt, construction estimating, or related fields.
• Familiarity with construction plans, stationing, alignments, and pay items.
• Experience with hauling, logistics, routing, or haul-distance calculations.
• Experience with DOT bid documents.
• Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, B2W, HeavyBid, or HardDollar.
• Experience with 3D geospatial data, including terrain and surface models, point clouds, cut/fill volumes, or similar applications.
