Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to build secure, scalable data platform capabilities and automate governance controls. You will design and implement automated metadata, lineage, data quality, and access controls, plus secure APIs and enterprise tools.

You will collaborate with domain experts and engineers, ensure observability, and own production-grade code with a strong emphasis on security and least-privilege access.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field; equivalent demonstrated skill accepted.
• 5+ years in software/data engineering with modern data stacks.
• 5+ years with Python, SQL, distributed processing, data modeling.
• Cloud data platforms, data catalogs, metadata, lineage, data quality, access controls.
• Databricks, Unity Catalog, Data Lake, Apache Spark or comparable.
• CI/CD, automated testing, environment separation, production deployment.
• Experience building secure APIs, MCP servers, or enterprise tools.
• Enterprise identity, RBAC, service accounts, secrets, least-privilege security.
• Full lifecycle: architecture → development → deployment → production support.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

Responsibilities

• Architect secure, scalable data platform and governance automation capabilities.
• Build automated controls for metadata, ownership, lineage, data quality, access, and policy enforcement.
• Develop secure APIs, MCP tools, and integrations for enterprise AI apps.
• Design reusable, configuration-driven patterns for governed data/platform services.
• Implement identity, authz, least-privilege access, auditability, and credential management.
• Build automated validation, testing, deployment, and monitoring across environments.
• Partner with domain experts, PMs, governance teams, and engineers on controls.
• Establish observability for platform health, data quality, policy results, and failures.
• Own production-quality code, tests, documentation, and operational guidance.
• Mentor other engineers; guide technical direction across teams.

ABOUT THE ROLE

MUST HAVES

• Bachelor's in CS/Data Engineering/Software Engineering/related STEM (or Bachelor's + Master's/higher in STEM)
• 5+ years software/data engineering experience (or equivalent demonstrated skill)
• 5+ years with Python, SQL, distributed processing, data modeling, modern data engineering frameworks
• Strong experience with cloud data platforms, data catalogs, metadata, lineage, data quality, access controls
• Databricks, Unity Catalog, Data Lake, Apache Spark, or comparable
• CI/CD, automated testing, environment separation, production deployment
• Experience building secure APIs, MCP servers, or tools for enterprise/AI-enabled apps

• GitLab CI/CD or comparable
