Muttdata is a remote-first startup delivering data products and ML solutions. We seek a Senior Backend Python Developer to design and maintain microservices powering our AI platform for banking clients. You will own architecture, scalability, and reliability, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes ownership, secure systems, and high standards, with opportunities to impact data engineering and ML deployments across cloud platforms.

Formación

• 5+ years of backend experience in Python with production microservices.
• Strong FastAPI experience or equivalent async framework.
• Hands-on experience applying hexagonal/clean architecture in production.
• Experience with scalability and resilience patterns: caching, retries, queues.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases like DynamoDB.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and AWS observability tools.

Responsabilidades

• Design and maintain core microservices: model gateway, agent orchestration, and retrieval APIs.

We're looking for a proactive, technically strong Senior Backend Python Developer to join our team. You'll work on a strategic project for one of our banking clients, designing and maintaining the microservices that power our AI platform — including model gateway, agent orchestration, and retrieval APIs — with a strong focus on clean architecture, scalability, and reliability.

This role requires strong ownership, solid architectural judgment, and the ability to build systems that are secure, performant, and built to scale. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, high-standards environment typical of the financial industry.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the platform's core microservices: model gateway, agent orchestration, and retrieval APIs.
• Apply clean/hexagonal architecture principles to ensure maintainable, testable, and scalable systems.
• Implement resilience and scalability patterns: caching, rate limiting, retries, and event-driven/message queue architectures.
• Own the full lifecycle of services: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with architects, DevOps, and other engineering teams to define technical solutions aligned with business needs.
• Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and adherence to engineering best practices.
• Contribute to technical decision-making regarding infrastructure, tooling, and system design.
• Participate in incident response and troubleshooting for production systems.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of backend experience in Python, with microservices running in production.
• Strong experience with FastAPI (or an equivalent async framework).
• Hands-on experience applying hexagonal / clean architecture in real production systems.
• Experience with scalability and resilience patterns: caching, rate limiting, retries, message queues / event-driven architecture.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tools — ideally on AWS.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating LLMs (streaming, LiteLLM, LangGraph, RAG).
• Familiarity with Langfuse.
• Experience with Kafka or SQS.
• Knowledge of API security standards (OAuth2/JWT).
• Experience with Terraform.
• Previous experience working in the banking/financial industry.
