Prometeo Talent is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a 100% remote, LATAM-friendly role with an US-based cybersecurity startup. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems in Java and Python, owning features and collaborating with a fast-paced, highly technical team.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software engineering, strong Python and Java experience, and hands‑on AI/LLM development.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years with Python and production‑grade backend systems.
• Strong Java experience and distributed systems knowledge.
• Hands‑on with Docker/Kubernetes in production environments.
• Experience with AI/LLM‑based development and AI workflows.
• Advanced English level and ownership in fast‑paced setups.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems with databases, APIs, queues, and data pipelines.
• Own features throughout their lifecycle from design to monitoring.
• Create production‑ready, reliable, and high‑performing systems.
• Collaborate with product/engineering to translate requirements into solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring quality.
