Placements24 seeks a Lead Geologist to spearhead resource estimation within a remote-first framework. The role leads geological teams to define mineral resources with high accuracy and develops robust modeling and estimation methodologies in line with international reporting standards.

You will oversee 3D block modeling, apply geostatistical methods, supervise drilling programs, and collaborate with engineers and management to support mine planning, feasibility studies, and investment decisions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology or related geoscience.
• Minimum 10 years in exploration/resource geology, with 5+ years in a lead role.
• Experience with geological modeling software (Leapfrog Geo, Micromine, Vulcan).
• Strong statistical and geostatistical skills for resource estimation.
• Understanding of mineralization controls and mining operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead team in developing and maintaining 3D block models for resource estimation.
• Apply advanced geological modeling and statistical techniques for accurate resource quantification.
• Ensure resource estimates comply with international standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Oversee exploration drilling programs to infill and extend resources.
• Collaborate with mining engineers, metallurgists, and management for mine planning and feasibility.
• Mentor junior geologists and foster technical excellence.
