AgileEngine is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build and maintain PHP-based systems powering our distributed services. You will apply strong OOP and system design skills to keep APIs secure, scalable, and performant while focusing on clean code and solid engineering fundamentals.

You will develop and maintain backend systems, write modular code in PHP and related technologies, and contribute to microservices for reliability and scalability.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 2 years of backend PHP production experience.
• Solid OOP, design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience building and maintaining backend systems and service integrations.
• Proficiency in secure API design and auth concepts.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and containerized environments.
• Ability to debug, optimize, and deliver reliable solutions.
• Good communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Overlap with Western European Time.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and maintain backend systems, APIs, and integrations supporting company products and distributed services.
• Write clean, modular code in PHP and complementary technologies such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and related frameworks.
• Contribute to distributed systems and microservices for scalability and reliability.
• Apply OOP principles and architectural patterns to ensure extensibility.
• Implement and maintain secure authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT, RBAC).
• Utilize data structures, algorithms, and caching to optimize performance.
• Debug, profiling, and performance tuning across environments and services.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, QA, and Support to gather requirements and deliver.
• Participate in testing strategies with QA/QE to ensure coverage.
• Adhere to code quality, security, and scalability standards.
• Participate in peer code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Maintain API specs and implementation notes.
• Engage in sprint ceremonies and cross-team demos to align priorities.
• Ensure compliance with open-source usage and dependencies.
