Job summary

Blacksmith Agency is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to own and ship our internal automation roadmap. This full-time, remote role focuses on building production systems atop AI models, not on training them.

You will collaborate with engineering leadership to turn a documented automation roadmap into shipped workflows, leveraging LangChain/LangGraph and related agent frameworks. Prior work with OpenAI/Anthropic APIs is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building production software with Python or Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen or similar agent frameworks.
• Proven API integration work with OpenAI or Anthropic (function calling, tool use, streaming).
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and basic cloud deployment.
• English sufficient for async written work with a US-based team.

Responsibilities

• Own and ship the internal automation roadmap.
• Build production systems on top of AI models, not just research.
• Collaborate with engineering and delivery leadership to turn roadmaps into shipped workflows.
• Demonstrate concrete implementations using LLMs and agent frameworks.
