Job summary

Intuitive is seeking an experienced machine controls engineer to lead the development of advanced mechatronic instrumentation for patient care. The ideal candidate will architect and implement control and sensing software for medical robots and diagnostic instruments, from prototype to commercialization.

The role requires strong experimental design, data analysis, and hands-on work with hardware, collaborating across embedded, electrical, systems, and mechanical teams to deliver high-precision,

Qualifications

• BS/MS with 8+ years industry experience or PhD with 5+ years in systems control and sensing.
• Experience in real-time control software on Linux and multiple languages (C/C++/C#).
• Medical device software development per FDA requirements including risk analysis and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement control and sensing software for advanced mechatronic instrumentation.
• Work hands-on with mechatronic hardware in system bring-up, calibration, and debugging.
• Lead system optimization and data-driven design iteration with experiments and analysis.
• Interface with embedded and electrical engineers to develop software interfaces to controllers and firmware.
• Collaborate with systems and mechanical engineering to select hardware components and architectures.
• Write clean, maintainable code and document software designs for various configurations.
• Develop unit tests and ensure test coverage for software.
• Use Python for hardware prototyping, test automation, and data visualization.
• Generate software requirements, design specs, and test protocols for Quality System.
