Job summary

MAVI seeks a Head of Accounting to lead the accounting function for a high-growth US company, working remotely from Argentina. You will set the function’s standards, structure, and roadmap, and manage managers who run close, revenue accounting, and accounting operations daily.

Reporting to CFO/CEO, you’ll ensure readiness for audits, acquisitions, or new entities, driving policy, controls, and external audits while aligning with US GAAP and ERP roadmap.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leading managers or multi-layer teams.

The Role

We are seeking a Head of Accounting to lead the accounting organization of a high-growth US company, working remotely from Argentina.

You will set the standards, structure, and roadmap for the function, and lead the managers who run the close, revenue accounting, and accounting operations day to day. Reporting to the CFO or CEO, you will make sure accounting is ready for the company's next stage, whether a larger audit, an acquisition, or a new entity, before it is tested.

What You'll Own

Leadership and Policy

• The function. Own the structure, roadmap, and hiring plan of the accounting organization.
• The team. Lead and develop Accounting Managers, Leads, and specialists.
• Accounting policy. Set the company's accounting policies and act as final reviewer on judgment-heavy matters.

Reporting and Technical Accounting

• Financial statements. Stand behind consolidated financial statements under US GAAP in front of leadership, auditors, investors, and the board.
• Technical accounting. Oversee conclusions on revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, and debt and equity instruments.
• Close performance. Set close cycle-time and quality targets and hold the team to them.

Controls, Audit, and Scale

• Controls and audit. Build a control environment fit for the next stage, and own the external audit relationship.
• Transactions. Lead the accounting workstream for fundraising, M&A diligence, and integration.
• Systems. Own the accounting systems roadmap, including ERP, revenue, and close automation.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leading managers or a multi-layer team
• Experience as the senior accounting leader, or deputy to one, at a high-growth or complex company
• Deep command of US GAAP, including ASC 606 and ASC 842
• A track record of building or rebuilding an accounting function's policies, controls, and team
• Experience owning the external audit relationship
• Substantial experience with a major ERP, such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or Microsoft Dynamics
• Strong written and spoken English, with executive-level presence
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent professional qualification

Preferred

• Experience using AI tools in accounting workflows, with the judgment to review and correct AI-generated output
• Big 4 audit or technical accounting experience followed by industry leadership
• Experience with ASC 718, M&A accounting, or multi-entity consolidation
• SOX-readiness or IPO-readiness experience
• Experience at a venture-backed or PE-backed US company from Series B onward

Work Arrangement

This is a fully remote role with a single client company for the duration of the engagement. Full-time roles require a minimum of 4 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern Time (ET); part-time roles require a minimum of 2 hours.
